제 6 회 동충하초 사진전

동충하초를 만나 연구한지가 벌써 20년이 되었다. 또 서울에서 동충하초사진전을 가진지가 올해로 6번째이다. 10년이면 강산도 변한다는데 강산이 두 번이나 변하는 동안 동충하초를 연구하여 한국에서 10명 중 6-7명 정도는 알 정도가 되었고 산업화 된 것만으로도 보람을 느끼고 산다. 그러나 동충하초하면 대부분 사람들은 누에에서 나는 한 종류의 동충하초만 알고 있다. 그러나 한국에는 세계의 어느 나라보다 동충하초의 종류가 많고 분포가 다양하다. 이번 사진전시회를 통하여 동충하초에 대한 신비함과 아울러 우리가 살고 있는 자연의 고마움을 일깨워 주고 싶다. 또한 동충하초의 자실체를 형성하여 이를 이용한 신물질을 찾아내어 산업화 시키므로 국내는 물론 세계적으로 동충하초가 중요한 유전자원임을 알리고 싶다. 이러한 연구를 할 수 있도록 지원하여 주신 과학기술부와 강원도, 성원해 주시는 선생님들께도 감사를 드린다. 앞으로 동충하초 연구에 더 매진하여 좋은 결과가 나와 동충하초하면 한국이라고 할 수 있도록 부지런히 정진하려고 한다.

 

It is already 20 years since I started research on Insect-Born Fungi of Korea. Similarly, this is the sixth consecutive year I have been continuously organizing Exhibition on Insect-Born Fungi of Korea in Seoul, Korea, once every year. It is well known that a period of 10 years is an epoch. In the similar way, after 20 years of research, it has become a matter of satisfaction for me to note that out of average 10 Korean people, about 6-7 know about Cordyceps of Korea and its growing industrialization. But, on the other hand, most of the people assume that Cordyceps is only one species growing on silkworm pupae. In fact, Korea is a natural paradise of many Cordyceps species, more that any other country or region in the world. The main focus of this year's exhibition on Cordyceps is to make common people aware of the mystery of Cordyceps fungi. Similarly, the exhibition also concentrates on the industrialization of such natural resources with noble bio-active compounds and to uplift the position of Korea as a heritage of such natural resources. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to MOST and KISTEP. for their kind support to carry out the research, and also to all the well-wishers for their kind encouragement shown towards me in the past. In future, I wish to devote myself more on the research of Cordyceps and show promising results to make Korea as a synonym for Cordyceps.
