일본 Nagai 선생님으로부터 받은 편지

2011년 3월 15일 화요일 맑음   벌써 일본에 지진과 쓰나미가 일어난지 며칠이 지났다. 그래서 지난번 태국에서 만나서 친하여진 Nagai 선생님에게 간단한 안부 메일을 보냈다. Nagai선생님은 대학교수로 연구를 열중하다가 정년을 하고 나와 같이 회사를 만들어 좋은 제품을 만들어 일본에서 판매하고 있다. 식품을 하기 때문에 동충하초를 가지고도 식품을 제조하고 싶어 하신다. 이번 지진 피해를 보면서 우리는 너무나 배울 것이 많다. 그 중에서 대표적인 것은 남을 배려하는 마음이다.  이곳에서 내가 경험하고 있는 것과는 아주 딴판이다. 다시 한번 일본이라는 나라를 보면서 마음속으로 우리도 언제 그러한 의식이 도달할지를 상상하여 본다. 아니 나 만이라도 그렇게 되기를 지극한 마음으로 발원을 하여야 겠다.     Dear Professor Nagai.   Many thaks for your quick response. I am very very happy to hear that you, your family and your company are well. I wish the damage of earthquake recover as soon as possible. With regards   Jae-Mo Sung   Dear Professor Sung: Thank you for your mail. I , my family, our company and our company's people are all all right and very healthy. However, the people in the Northern East and East of Japan are having very tough and hard time. In 1995, we had hard time at Hanshin-Awaji earthquake, but that has no tsunami. This time tsunami gave huge damage to people, houses and building. Also, nuclear plants are having very hard time. I am afraid of melting down of the nuclear plants. Anyway, in our area almost no change happen after the earthquake. Thank you so much for your thinking over us. I hope we can overcome this hard time as soon as possible.
