과학자로 보람을 가지게 한 미국에서 온 좋은 소식.

 

2021년 11월 07일. 오늘도 우리 남은 인생의 첫날을 맞이하는 일요일로 새벽에 일어나 토담집에서 나와 보니 많은 별에서 기운을 받을 수 있는 좋은 날입니다. 오늘도 즐거운 삶을 이끌어 주는 성재모동충하초를 돌보고 나서 성재모동충하초비로를 따뜻한 물에 타서 마신다. 가벼운 마음으로 컴퓨터 앞에 앉아 인연이 있는 친구님과 같이 평안하고 여유로운 날을 맞이하기를 바라면서 글을 쓴다. 오늘 또 하루를 선물로 받았네요.

 

인스타그램에 사진을 올리었더니 답을 보내왔다. 성재모 교수님이신가요. 일 년 반쯤 전부터 선생님을 인터넷으로만 뵌 뒤로 꿈에서도 동충하초를 공부하고 있습니다. 바쁘실 텐데 답변 주시어 감사할 따름입니다. 미국에 사는 박교준 인사드립니다. 감사합니다. 그리고 몇 번의 연락이 오고 갔다. 오늘 아침에 열어보니 나에 관한 공부를 하여 영어로 쓴 글과 함께 페북에 올린 사진을 보내왔다 박교준 대표님은 usa_cordyceps 로 동충하초를 잘 재배하고 있다.

 

이제까지 나는 살아가면서 인연을 소중하게 생각하면서 살아왔다. 성가와 박씨와 인연은 남다르게 인연을 가지고 있다. 역사적으로 보면 사육신인 성삼문과 박팽년 할아버지는 생사를 같이하여 충신이라는 선물을 주시었고 중종반정을 일으킨 성희안 박원종 할아버지는 성공하여 생사를 같이하신 할아버지다. 또 하나의 인연은 미국에서 공부하는 동안 미국의 스승인 Snyder, Cook과 Humber 박사님의 도움으로 진균을 배워 동충하초를 연구하게 되었다.

 

이렇게 인연이 깊은 미국에서 박교준 대표님이 내가 개발한 동충하초를 꿈에도 생각하면서 동충하초를 usa_cordyceps 이름으로 동충하초를 재배하고 있다. 또 하나의 좋은 인연이 탄생하였으면 좋겠다. 한국의 동충하초와 미국의 usa_cordyceps가 좋은 인연으로 내가 개발한 동충하초가 미국에서 발전하기를 빌어 본다. 그저 모든 것이 감사하고 고마울 뿐이다. 오늘도 동충하초로 출연한 MBC 나이아가라 백세 열정<https://youtu.be/zSrHaB-5Z7A>와 함께 하루를 보내려고 한다.

I’m always honored to be talking with my mentors. I always find them incredibly humble. “I was introduced to the world of fungus and Cordyceps by a Professor in America, the country of dream. And it is truly nice to meet you Khan Park cultivation Cordyceps in the America. I look forward to have good relationship with you. Thank you” Professor JaeMo Sung student in the Washington State University. He is still hunting, teaching and cultivating Cordyceps, actively working on pioneering cultivation Matsutake, and been attending classes to learn video podcast/ editing from 2020. In 2019 he wrote “learning SNS is so fun” He is 78 year old this 2021.

This master has 17,000 specimen of Cordyceps collected worldwide. This is specimen number count, not strain of Cordyceps militaris, nor the number of isolates he has worked on. Eight hundred Cordyceps species are discovered worldwide. Three hundred recognizes academically, and he found 100 of the 300 (in from 1984). and he commercialized 4 species among them.

He succeeded the grain cultivation method after researching it for 10 years. I had wondered, how could grain cultivation method that’s so simple took 10 years to figure? I suppose simplicity truly is the result of massive time, study, and creativity. Professor JaeMo Sung was then the very first person in the world who come up with the commercializable grain cultivation method for Cordyceps

What I like about him is that he kept it all local. He hired emplyees from town. He used local brown rice. He exports but only the neighboring country. He has a full mechanized system but inoculate his products all by himself. ---
